Last night on TLC’s Sister Wives Season 5 Episode 15, Christine’s mother moved in with the Browns, just as two of the older girls prepared to move out.
The Circle of Life, Polygamy Style.
As with most installments of the show, Sister Wives Season 5 Episode 15 managed to be strangely normal even whilst depicting the Browns’ unorthodox lifestyle.
When Kody’s mother-in-law Annie moved into the home he shares with his wife Christine Brown, you could feel – and in some ways relate to – the tension.
Not necessarily between Kody and Annie, though, or even between Kody and Christine, which would have been all but guaranteed, or one would think.
If you watch Sister Wives online, you know relations haven’t been so great there, but it was the wives themselves were the ones that had the hardest time here.
This was due in large part to Annie taking care of the kids – her ostensible reason for moving in – and the reversal in roles this caused for the wives.
Throughout the night, the Browns felt like they were on the cusp of a nervous breakdown, individually and collectively, as the lingering issues surfaced.
Christine was stung by Robyn’s decision to hire a sitter rather than trying to make their schedules work out so they could all take care of each other’s kids.
That is, after all, what they do.
Annie and Christine’s complicated relationship can’t help but impact her marriage to Kody, too, even if it hasn’t done so at the onset. How can it not?
With her oldest daughters moving out of the house, Christine has reached a transitional period in her life where self-reflection is paramount and inevitable.
Maybe we’re reaching here, but this is the sort of thing that could serve as a catalyst for her rethinking plural marriage, which she hasn’t been thrilled with.
