Turns out, quite a few people were interested in the whereabouts of Rick Castle last night.
Thanks to this cliffhanger, Castle Season 7 Episode 1 garnered the highest ratings for this long-running drama since 2011, as 11.3 million total viewers tuned in to the opening installment of the fall.
Even more impressively, this figure came against strong competition such as the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 6 premiere (9.4 million viewers, a 37 percent drop from last year’s opener) and The Blacklist Season 2 Episode 2 (10.7 million).
Elsewhere across the dial on a busy Monday night:
- The Voice remained steady from last week, bringing in close to 13 million viewers.
- With 16.2 million households tuning in The Big Bang Theory Season 8 Episode 3 fell by 10 percent from its opening installment.
- On Fox: Gotham dropped off a bit from its premiere (7.3 million), while Sleepy Hollow (5.1 million) was down 7 percent from last week’s opener.
- On ABC: About 12.7 million people watched Dancing With the Stars send Randy Couture packing, a 14 percent decrease from the previous Monday’s outing.
Fall television season is very much in full swing at this point, with The CW even revving up new episodes this Thursday via The Vampire Diaries Season 6 and Reign Season 2.
