According to various reports, Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres may be headed for divorce.
And in what could be even worse news for the talk show icon, de Rossi may have been in the habit of covertly videotaping the couple’s violent fights with the goal of exploiting Ellen should they ever break up.
“Portia secretly taped some of their fights. She was drunk,” a source tells In Touch. “Then she threatened to expose Ellen as controlling and manipulating.”
The insider claims DeGeneres flew into a rage when she discovered de Rossi’s scheme and proceeded to smash Portia’s phone to ensure the footage wouldn’t get out.
Sources say Ellen and Portia are currently struggling to save their marriage and de Rossi recently completed a stint in an alcoholism treatment facility.
DeGeneres and de Rossi married in 2008 and seemed for a time to be the ideal Hollywood couple.
Neither party has yet spoken publicly about the rumors regarding their relationship troubles or de Rossi’s excessive drinking.
Last year, DeGeneres defended her marriage against divorce reports propagated by Star magazine. The fact that she has not issued a statement during this latest round of rumors has many wondering if she and de Rossi are really separating this time.
