The rumors surrounding Arie Luyendyk, Jr. being considered for ABC’s The Bachelor in January are true, and The Bachelorette contender confirms.

Not only that, he’s lobbying for the job!

The runner-up on Emily Maynard’s 2012 season – she picked Jef Holm, somewhat amazingly, over Arie and Sean Lowe – wants to hand out the roses.

“No hiding it anymore!” the 32-year-old race car driver tweeted this week. “Would love to share my journey with all of you, but it’s up to #bachelornation.”

“Open, hopeful and more than ready,” the Arizona-based Arie Luyendyk, Jr. concluded his Twitter declaration, complete with a red rose emoji … very subtle!

The Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman’s beloved farmer suitor, Chris Soules, was believed to be the easy choice for producers looking to cast the role.

Luyendyk’s name also popped up recently, though.

“Arie is being considered and filmed for promos,” an insider said, while another added: “He already had his packages shot and they even got him a trainer.”

ABC has yet to announce who is the next Bachelor and likely will not do so until after Bachelor in Paradise (yes, a real spinoff) concludes later this summer.

What do you think? Who should get the nod?
