Michael Jackson Death Anniversary: Five Years Later ...

by at .

The 25th day of June. For many, it's a day they will never forget.

On the five-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, many fans will likely recall where they were when they learned of the King of Pop's untimely demise.

It's hard to believe that the late, great King of Pop died five years ago now, succumbing to cardiac arrest in the afternoon of June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.

Dr. Conrad Murray was eventually found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jackson, who may be gone, but whose legacy lives and thrives.

Without question, Jackson's death introduced a new generation of fans to his greatness and reinvigorated the loyal followers who loved him from day one.

In a sense, the impact he left is felt more with each passing year. But to say that the entertainer has not rested entirely in peace would be an understatement.

Some of the well-documented personal struggles and eccentricities that made news when he was alive have only been amplified since he left this world.

Michael's three children, Prince, Blanket and Paris Jackson - kids he worked so tirelessly to give a normal well-adjusted life - have felt his loss the hardest.

Paris' suicide attempt in 2013 marked a sad culmination of what can best be described as a tumultuous adjustment period, and identify crisis, for the teenager.

The prior year saw custody battle in which MJ's mother Katherine Jackson briefly disappeared and several of his siblings staged a mutiny against his estate.

The custody of the children became a central issue again after Paris' suicide bid, while Wade Robson's child molestation accusations rocked the family.

For everyone whose life he impacted in a positive way personally, or just as a fan, seems to come a story ripe with scandal, confusion, even despair.

Whatever you think of Michael, his talent and cultural impact - and the unendingly, bizarre saga that is his personal life - may forever be unparalleled.

MJ rose to fame in 1964 as the youngest member of the Jackson 5, and his solo albums Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous dominated the industry.

Even greater than the hundreds of millions of records he sold in his lifetime are the left an indelible marks he left on American music and culture.

We hope that on this five-year anniversary of his passing, Jackson's legacy is honored in a way befitting of an icon, while his children grow up happy.
