Regardless of our political affiliations, today we should all be able to agree that our 41st President, George Herbert Walker Bush, has just taken a spot on the list of all-time greatest badasses!
The elder George Bush turned 90 years old today and he didn’t celebrate by breaking in a new pair of slippers. No, Bush took to the skies and jumped out of a freaking airplane!
The best part is: this wasn’t a case of GHWB crossing a long lifelong ambition of his bucket list. In fact, this is the eighth time Bush has gone skydiving, and he celebrated his 80th and 85th birthdays the same way.
The first time George jumped out of a plane? Oh, that would be when he was about 20 and his bomber was shot down by Japanese anti-aircraft guns. Like we said: badass!
This isn’t the first time Bush, Sr.’s awesomeness has shocked us in recent years.
In September of 2013, Bush served as a witness in a same-sex wedding ceremony. Earlier that same year, Bush shaved his head to show support for a two-year-old cancer patient.
We think it’s safe to say, Bush Senior is only getting cooler with age. Happy birthday, Mr. President.
