A shooting took place around 5:45 a.m. today at a FedEx facility in Kennesaw, Georgia.

According to NBC affiliate WXIA-TV, six people were injured in the attack; all were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, with one individual undergoing surgery.

CNN, meanwhile, quotes a police officer who says the suspect was found dead nearby of “an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

His or her name has not yet been released.

 

As of this writing, officers were still “sweeping” the area to confirm that there were no additional threats, Public Information Officer Mike Bowman said.

Over 50 emergency vehicle were dispatched to the facility – located about 25 miles outside Atlanta – after the incident was reported.

FedEx said it is “aware of the situation” and that “the primary concern is the safety and well-being of our team members, first responders and others affected.”
