Move over, Karl Malone. There’s a new clutch mailman in town.

Darrian Crutcher was conducting his usual mail route in Detroit on Tuesday when he came across a home on fire… with the owner inside!

So Crutcher grabbed a nearby hose and successfully fought back the flames on his own, definitely saving the structure in the process and likely saving Carolyn Patterson’s life.

"It was a blessing for me to be at that spot at that particular time," Crutcher told WJBX, refusing to label himself a "hero."

But David Weems of the Detroit Fire Department said Crutcher did a "great job" and even offered him a spot at the firehouse not long after the incident.

But Crutcher already has a job… and he continued doing it after the professionals arrived.

Really, the mailman went right back to his route.

"I said, ‘Ok, they there. The real firemen is here now so I can go ahead and do my job,’" Crutcher said. "I just seen a lady in the house and a young kid outside. I just go in and do it… if somebody seen me like that I wish they would do me like that, too."

Concluded Weems:

"It’s great just to see citizens just stopping to do the good – the good of man."
