Francois Arnaud is the latest in an increasingly long line of actors to be linked to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie as a contender for the role of Christian.
At this point, they might rename it 50 Shades of Christian Grey rumors, because that's what it's become ever since Charlie Hunnam bailed on the film.
French-Canadian Arnaud has emerged as a contender, alongside Jamie Dornan and others, with the producers having "expressed interest" in him.
Insiders qualify this by stressing that no more than talking has taken place and that neither Arnaud nor anyone else has been offered the role as of yet.
Still, somewhere, Dakota Johnson needs a stiff drink.
The 28-year-old Arnaud is probably best known in the U.S. for playing Cesare Borgia on the recently concluded Showtime drama The Borgias.
He also appeared in the independent Civil War drama Copperhead with Billy Campbell and Peter Fonda, which had a limited release this summer.
Arnaud has brooding eyes, thick hair and good bone structure, and continues the studio's apparent preference for a non-American actor in the role.
Rumored contenders Alexander Skarsgard, Theo James, Christian Cooke and Dornan are all from outside the U.S., as was the departed Hunnam.
