Joseph Armento, Young Giants Fan, Sends Piggybank Savings to "Help" Brandon Jacobs

New York Giants fan Joseph Armento was dismayed to learn that his favorite team did not keep star running back Brandon Jacobs this offseason.

The six-year-old then decided to do what he could to help.

Joseph sent a letter to Jacobs, enclosing his personal savings from his actual piggybank, totaling $3.36, in an effort to "help" the athlete, who signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in March, return to New York.

Jacobs Letter

"When he asked me why you were going to SF, I explained that the Giants did not have enough money to keep you," Joseph's mother, Julie, wrote. "Joseph is just learning to read/write so I will help you by translating his letter."

Her son's note to the football player adorably reads: "Dear Brandon Jacobs, So you could go to the Giants, here is my money. Love, Joe."

Jacobs signed a one-year deal with the 49ers that could pay up to $2 million; the Giants reportedly offered $1.5 million for his services.

Clearly "not having the money" is all relative, but the NFL star, 29, was so touched by the letter that he posted it to his Twitter account.

"I almost cried, I am still trying to hold it in," Jacobs, who won two Super Bowls, ran for 4,849 yards and scored 56 TDs in seven seasons with NY, Tweeted.

"I got the letter a couple of days ago and it meant a whole lot to me ... that's a special thing, I wish every athlete could get that feeling."

"That definitely meant a lot for him to do that and put that concept together for one of his favorite players on one of his favorite teams."

"It meant a lot to me and gave me a lot of motivation. I want to do good and go out there and do the best I can for little Joe," he said.

"After thinking about it, I'm going to remember this for the rest of my life. When I go back to Jersey, we are going to have some fun together."

"Here's what I am thinking for the kid. I have a 5 year old, so I will go and pick Joe up at his home in NJ and take him and my son 2 chucky cheese."

"FYI I am contacting him tomorrow to make some plans."

Pretty awesome story all around.
