Have no fears, Little Monsters. Lady Gaga’s dress from the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month will be preserved. Hopefully in some sort of meat locker.
Symbolically, Gaga wanted to illustrate that humans can be treated like pieces of meat, as she feels gays are thanks to laws like the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.
But forget the controversy. One of the problems with a dress of meat is logistical. What do you do with it after? It’s not like you can eat that piece … or can you?
PETA? Rolling in its collective grave.
“The dress will now go through a drying process where it becomes a sort of ‘jerky,’” the designer of Lady Gaga’s meat dress, Franc Fernandez, tells E! Online.
It will be “archived for posterity,” he says, adding that it took three days and 50 pounds of meat to design the dress, which he refrigerated between sessions.
“The meat dries out, rather than rotting. But it shouldn’t be worn again. There’s not going to be more. This was made for a specific purpose. It is what it is.”
