Law enforcement sources are getting more specific regarding Sunday night's Chris Brown arrest - and cops who photographed Rihanna's injuries say they are "horrific."
The photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer's face - there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody.
Moreover, there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.
According to reports, Rihanna claims Chris Brown struck her with his fists and that's what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.
Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. According to reports, the photos alone are "devastating proof of abuse."
Also, it was not Rihanna who personally called 911. Someone in the area heard her screams during the alleged assault and placed the urgent call for help.
According to a source close to the investigation, Chris Brown "fled on foot" from the scene following the disturbing attack. Two officers from the LAPD found Rihanna in Brown's rented silver Lamborghini "beaten really badly and hysterical."Brown had taken the keys to the car with him and Rihanna was basically left on the side of the road with the car and was badly injured: "Rihanna didn't want anyone to touch her, she was in so much pain," the source says.
Rihanna was treated and discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, having been escorted out a back exit of the hospital some time that night. "They used a decoy to throw off the media," a source close to the investigation said.
Neither Rihanna nor Chris Brown's exact whereabouts are known at this time, although Brown was spotted arriving at the London hotel in West Hollywood after being released from custody on $50,000 bail the night of the attack.
A member of Rihanna's inner circle reportedly told E! News that her family is making plans to get her out of L.A. as soon as possible: "They want to get her back to Barbados. They want to keep her away from Chris right now."
Brown, 19, has pulled out of his scheduled appearance Sunday at the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, while Rihanna, 20, opted to postpone a sold-out concert scheduled for Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, citing an "unavoidable" conflict.
Earlier Monday, Wrigley announced it was pulling all advertisements for Doublemint Gum featuring the R&B singer until the situation is resolved.
