Mischa Barton is actually not the worst example of drunk driving this week.

Jim Leyritz, a member of the New York Yankees championship teams in the 1990s, is being held at Broward County Jail in Florida, after being an arrest for DUI and vehicular homicide.

WPLG-TV and TMZ report that, according to police, Leyritz was driving a Ford SUV that crashed into another vehicle in downtown Fort Lauderdale early this morning.

The other car rolled, the female driver was ejected and she later died of injuries sustained in the crash. Jim Leyritz was booked at 4:30 AM on two charges of DUI and is being held on $11,000 bond.

For this staff writer of The Hollywood Gossip – along with numerous other baseball fans – Jim Leyritz is best known for twirling his bat after every pitch, as well as slamming the dramatic, game-tying, three-run home run against the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the 1996 World Series.

No amount of steroids can help him now.
