Nominees for the Golden Globes were announced this morning and two actors stood out from the rest:

  1. Leonardo DiCaprio, who scored best actor in a drama nods for both Blood Diamond and The Departed.
  2. Jennifer Hudson, nominated for best supporting actress in her big-screen debut, Dreamgirls.

“I’m overwhelmed right now,” Hudson said on the Today show. “I just started screaming when they said the names.”

Dreamgirls racked up multiple nominations, including a best actress, musical or comedy, nod for star Beyoncé Knowles and a supporting actor nomination for Eddie Murphy.

Actress nominees for movie dramas are: Penelope Cruz, for Volver; Judi Dench, Notes on a Scandal; Maggie Gyllenhaal, Sherrybaby; Helen Mirren, The Queen; and Kate Winslet, Little Children.

Comedy/musical actress nominees are: Annette Bening, Running With Scissors; Toni Collette, Little Miss Sunshine; Beyonce, Dreamgirls; Meryl Streep, The Devil Wears Prada; and Rene Zellweger, Miss Potter.

Besides Murphy, other supporting actor nominees include: Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg (in The Departed) and Brad Pitt (Babel).
