Add Madonna to the list of those who thought M.I.A.'s actions during halftime of Super Bowl XVLI were stupid and childish.

A few days after she anchored a mostly positively-reviewed show, The Material Girl called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest and reacted to M.I.A's action as follows:

"I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it.

"I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager... irrelevant thing to do.. here was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point?"

In a separate interview, Madonna later told Carson Daly that M.I.A. did call her to apologize, but the iconic artist concluded of the action:

"It was just out of place."

She performed live in Indianapolis on Sunday night, but Madonna will soon be taking her show on the road.

In promotion of her new album, which goes on sale March 26, the 53-year old superstar has announced a slow of world tour dates. Piers Morgan may not attend any of these performances, but will you?

But Piers Morgan made it clear during an appearance on Chelsea Lately last night: do NOT count him in this group!

"That Super Bowl performance - it was like watching your mad drunken aunt at Christmas, wasn't it?" the CNN anchor said. "I keep reading all these celebrities tweeting like, 'Wasn't she awesome?' No she wasn't! She was gruesome!"

Morgan, of course, is not an unbiased observer.

He banned the singer from his show last year due to multiple disagreements and incidents, one of which apparently took place at a pub managed by Morgan's brother, which involved then-Madonna-husband Guy Ritchie.

"But at least I've found that I have one common ground with Madonna: neither of us have sung live at the Super Bowl," Morgan joked last night. "She was lip syncing the whole damn thing."

With all due respect to Eli Manning, might Madonna have put on the best performance of Super Bowl XLVI?

The legendary singer mashed up a number of songs over the course of 12-plus minutes, possibly lip-synching a great deal, but also pulling out a number of fun numbers, including one that involved some incredibly limber, acrobat-like dancers over a set of makeshift bleachers.

Nicki Minaj also stopped by. So did Cee Lo Green, LMFAO and M.I.A. The Material Girl hit the classics ("Vogue, "Music") and her new one, "Give Me All Your Lovin," showing great energy for a woman her age.

What did you think of Madonna's halftime performance?

Sultan of sleaze Joe Francis is threatening to sue Madonna if she performs her new song called "Girls Gone Wild" at the Super Bowl tomorrow. Yes, really.

Francis, creator of the infamous Girls Gone Wild franchise, in which he films drunk girls exposing themselves on spring break, is apparently dead serious.

He has issued a cease and desist letter claiming he will take legal action against Madonna if she sings that particular song at this weekend's festivities.

The letter (sent to Madonna, NBC Universal and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell) from Francis' Nevada lawyer David Houston, states that:

"[Francis] became aware of Madonna's new track based on the presales of her new album MDNA, as the #1 song on the album is 'Girls Gone Wild.'"

"Mr. Francis and Girls Gone Wild have worked tirelessly for an excess of two decades to build his brand and to protect his trademark Girls Gone Wild."

How appropriate.

After a sneak peek on American Idol last night, Super Bowl halftime act Madonna's music video for "Give Me All Your Luvin'" has debuted, and it's football-themed!

The 53-year-old superstar is lifted up by football players, who even take bullets for the Material Girl, while M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj serve as her cheerleaders.

The trio even pays homage to Marilyn Monroe, with curly blonde bobs, diamonds and white lacey dresses. Is the end result any good, though? You tell us.

Madonna's (potential) reign over 2012 has begun.

The Queen of Pop released the single art and release date (Friday, February 3) of her latest single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'" and now, Madonna's released the cover of the brand new studio album on which it's featured, MDNA.

Madonna will rock the Super Bowl halftime show and debut her latest music video Sunday as well. Is everybody not named David Furnish or Elton John excited?

Elton John has fired up the quasi-dispute between himself and Madonna once again, thanks to his latest "advice" about her Super Bowl performance.

Just when we thought his husband, David Furnish, had washed his hands of the feud (albeit with a non-apology), Elton spoke about Madonna today.

Speaking to Good Morning America from the set of his own Super Bowl Pepsi commercial, John weighed in on the halftime show Madge is headlining.

"I've never seen a decent one," he said. "Never ever."

This started when Furnish tore into Madonna, calling her a narcissistic embarrassment after she won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song (over Elton).

So does Elton have any advice for Madonna Sunday, to add to those preemptively harsh words? Does he ever. "Make sure you lip-sync good," he said.

Ouch! John softened that part a bit, though:

"I don't think you can (play live). In all fairness to everyone who's done it before, I think you may be able to sing live, but it's really hard to play live."

He even adds of some of the last few performers: "To be honest with you, I saw the Stones and I saw Prince and I thought they were pretty good."

We'll see if he says the same of Madonna come Monday.

Elton John's husband David Furnish is not apologizing to Madonna, per se. Or at all.

He is kind of backing off of his brutal criticism following Madonna's Golden Globe win Sunday, when he called her a desperate narcissist who could f--k off.

Furnish was livid that Madge beat Elton for Best Original Song, but clearly went a little over the line in his reaction to the pop queen's acceptance speech (below).

As a result, he amended his scathing rant with this message:

"Wow! What a tempest in a teapot. My passion for our film Gnomeo & Juliet and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going," he wrote on Facebook.

"But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film W.E."

Note the lack of "sorry" or "apologies" or "Madonna is NOT a desperate narcissist."

Reading between the lines: I'm not wrong, but that was a bit harsh. Cheers!

Elton John's husband David Furnish is PISSED that "Masterpiece" singer Madonna was among 2012's Golden Globe Award winners with the Best Original Song.

Furnish called Madonna's acceptance speech "embarrassing in its narcissism."

Just moments after she won the statue, Furnish went to his Facebook page and WENT OFF on the Material Girl, writing, "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!"

Elton John, who was nominated for a song from Gnomeo & Juliet, did not look happy when Madonna's name was announced, but he has not commented.

Furnish, however, did not hold back in letting Madonna, who won for a song from W.E., have it, referencing her recent quasi-feud with another singer.

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows these awards have nothing to do with merit," he said. "Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."

In related news, Madonna's cleavage was off the hook last night.
