For the first time, the Kony 2012 creator discusses the intimate details of his public breakdown on Oprah's Next Chapter this weekend. His wife will also detail the day of the Jason Russell meltdown and what transpired before and since. Take a look at the promo:
In random news, American Reunion star Jason Biggs stripped down in the middle of a news building in an apparent parody of Jason Russell's naked meltdown.
Jason's friends at the Invisible Children organization, which produced the viral phenomenon Kony 2012 video, were definitely NOT amused by Biggs' antics.
Then again, they're responding probably the best way they can. "Who's Jason Biggs? Was he famous once or something?" asked a rep in response. Ouch.
Anyway, while Russell remains hospitalized for the serious psychotic episode, here's Biggs doing his naked thing at Chicago's WGN, for reasons unknown:
Jason Russell's family has released statement on the Kony 2012 creator following his unbelievable naked meltdown Friday, claiming he was diagnosed with "brief reactive psychosis" after the fact and will remain hospitalized for several weeks.
The statement by Russell's family reads:
"We would, again, like to make it clear that the incident was in no way the result of drugs or alcohol in his body. The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis, an acute state brought on by extreme exhaustion, stress and dehydration."
"Though new to us, doctors say it is a common experience given the mental, emotional and physical shock his body has gone through in the last two weeks."
"Even for us, it's hard to understand the sudden transition from relative anonymity to worldwide attention - both raves and ridicules, in a matter of days."
Kony 2012 filmmaker Jason Russell’s wife Danica is blaming her husband’s “irrational” naked public meltdown on “extreme exhaustion and dehydration.”
NOT alcohol, stunningly.
Danica Russell issued a statement addressing Jason Russell's naked freak-out, which allegedly included vandalizing cars and masturbating in public:
“Let us say up front that Jason has never had a substance abuse or drinking problem, and this episode wasn’t caused by either of those things."
NOTE: Wouldn't you want to blame it on one or the other? Just to explain it away as a one-time thing, however embarrassing, and move on?
"But yes, he did irrational things brought on by exhaustion and dehydration.”
The filmmaker’s wife said the scrutiny Jason Russell received after his now-infamous film about alleged warlord Joseph Kony went viral took a toll on him.
“While the attention raised awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought much attention to Jason - and, because of how personal the [Kony 2012] film is, many attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard.”
Russell allegedly was walking around an intersection wearing “speedo-like underwear.” He then removed the underwear and made "sexual gestures."
