I've been watching Grey's from the first season, and somehow I missed the "007" signal that George wrote on Meredith's hand identifying who he was? Can you please tell me what that meant? I hope Katherine Heigl and T.R.Knight will both remain on the show. I really enjoy all the regulars. A true fan. Linda Dixon

In the pilot episode, I think, Dr. Burke selects George to perform a solo surgery... I believe it was an appendectomy (sp?). George screws up and kills the patient and gets nicknamed 007 or "Liscensed to Kill"

Yes, he is dubbed 007 in the pilot episode and it was Burke that selected George to assist him with the appendectomy, but George did not kill the patient. He made a mistake during the procedure and froze under the pressure. Burke, after waiting for George to get back in the game, pushed him out of the way and called him a "panzy-ass idiot", and all the interns watching George from the gallery said "007, yep total 007" meaning he's "licensed to kill".
