LeBron James made very few mistakes on the basketball court last night, leading his team to an easy victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

But the All-Star made a major faux pas after the 110-88 win, meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton outside the locker room and putting his arm around the latter while posing for photos.

Royal etiquette actually frowns on touching members of the British Monarchy, though Middleton didn’t seem to mind the gesture, as you can see in the video below:

Middleton and William took in the Cavs-Nets contest as part of their tour through America.

They also met Jay-Z and Beyonce as part of their exciting evening, which included courtside seats and a long discussion between William and former NBA center Dikembe Mutombo. Seriously!

James, meanwhile, presented the royal couple with a tiny red Cleveland jersey with No. 1 and "George" on the back, a cute gift for the pair’s son, Prince George.

He also gave them another, adult-sized yellow jersey reading "Cambridge."

Wrote James on Instagram soon after this encounter:

"Wow what an Honor! This game has brought me so much and I’ll never take it for granted! The King, "Duke & Duchess. #Royalty #StriveForGreatness #RWTW #LRMR #Klutch."

William and Middleton are in the United States this week for a tour that includes stops in New York City and Washington, D.C.

The Duke met with President Barack Obama on Monday morning, while his gorgeous wife was in Harlem, spending time with schoolchildren.

We doubt any real backlash will follow James around after he placed his arm on Kate’s shoulders. After all, can you blame him?

You have seen these Kate Middleton photos, haven’t you?
