Hafpor Julius Bjornsson: Game of Thrones' Gregor Clegane is Second Strongest Man in the World!

by at .  Updated at . Comments

In season 4, episode 7 of Game of Thrones, Hafpor Julius Bjornsson (the third actor to portray Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane on the series) disemboweled a group of cowering peasants in a scene that was graphically gory even by the lofty standards of GoT.

Turns out "Thor" Bjornsson is only slightly less intimidating in the real world, where the 6'9" 420-pound strongman is capable of throwing a freakin' washing machine 15 feet!

Bjornsson demonstrated that rare ability at this year's World's Strongest Man competition where he took second place.

That's a world record, by the way, and you can watch Hafpor (who's dressed as the Hulk for reasons that probably make sense in his native Iceland) perform the amazing feat in the video above.

If you're pulling for Team Tyrion/Oberyn Martell in the upcoming trial by combat, you may want to skip the clip. No one wants to imagine that their favorite character's fate will be decided by a dude that no one laughs at even when he's slathered in green body paint.

Bjornsson's size and strength have gained recognition all over the world and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Isray tweeted last year that he wanted to sign Thor to his team (even though we're guessing American football isn't exactly huge in Iceland).

Speaking of huge, check out this pic of Bjornsson hanging out with GoT's Lena Headey. We'd be smiling too if this giant was fighting on our side!
