Kevin Durant will be a married man soon. The Oklahoma City Thunder is engaged to Monica Wright, a guard who plays for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx!
He proposed and she accepted after her win Sunday against the Phoenix Mercury.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the couple, both 24, have known each other since the 2006 McDonald’s High School All-American Game.
Wright, a 5-foot-11 guard, was the #2 overall pick in the 2010 WNBA draft. She averages 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game this season.
Durant, one of the NBA’s biggest superstars for years now but also one of its most unassuming, and Wright have kept their relationship quiet.
Even as recently as May, a Fox Sports article about Durant made no reference to his friendship with Wright but not the two being romantically involved.
