Demi Lovato Loves New Barbie, Realistic Rear End

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Demi Lovato may be too old to play with dolls.

But she isn't too old to gush over them.

Following a series of Tweets in which Lovato complained to Mattel about the unrealistic dimensions of Barbie and how her slight figure might have a negative effect on young girls, artist Nickolay Lamm has given the icon a makeover.

Demi Loves Barbie

He used CDC measurements of how an average 19-year old woman would look - shorter in stature, with a curvy body and flat feet - and Lovato is a HUGE fan.

"That new @barbie’s got BACK!!!!! Hahahaha #bootybootybootyboottrockineverywhere” Lovato Tweeted of the doll, adding that she is "AWESOME."

Demi, of course, has been very open about her history of eating disorders and has been an advocate for young women with self-esteem issues across the board.

She recently admitted that she was suicidal at the age of 7.

And now, thanks to Lovato's efforts, perhaps future 7-year olds will have their confidence restored over the sight of a plumper Barbie doll.

I am in secondary school and in one of my English lessons our teacher got the life size measurements of barbie and drew her out. The barbie had huge breasts and a tiny waist, her different body parts did not look realistic at all. If she was real and could walk she would fall over because her breasts would be so heavy. Im not saying that the new barbie would be prefect but it is ideal for young children to play with because it is showing them that people do not have to be stick thin.

If the old Barbie was real she would
- fit the category for anorexia
- she wouldn't be able to fit all her organs in her torso
- she would die of malnutrition
- she would likely never menstruate
- she could possibly be infertile..If not the child she had would likely have problems
- Barbie is likely to have depression
- she would have to crawl on the floor as she couldn't stand
- she wouldn't be able to fit all her bones in her body And your saying there is nothing wrong with the old Barbie? That the old Barbie is just healthy? No. I think the new Barbie is great...I personally look like the new Barbie...and it's sickening to see all this hate about it...if It doesn't matter about how you look, why don't you all stop making a fuss about this doll being ' ugly ' ? It hurts me to think that there are people reading these comments and thinking if the the new Barbie isn't perfect enough, then Im not...I struggle with my weight issues enough...I've went through a really hard time. So stop having unrealistic ideas about what people should look like... And btw I know plenty of girls in my age group who do think Barbie is a representation of what the should look like! why are you so against this doll being made, what difference will it make?

THIS IS SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you don't mind Caitlyn but I have borrowed some of your comment for a speech I have to do for school. I still don't know what to call it though. It is all about the new and old Barbie but I just pick a name for it... if you have an idea please reply to this :)

On top of my previous comment, that doll doesn't have the dimensions of ANY 19 year old girl I know. Clearly they didn't take into account the obesity problem in America. Also, why does she have no neck?

IT'S A FUCKING DOLL!! I'm sorry, but a Barbie is NOT going to stop eating disorders. At the age I was at when I played with Barbies, it didn't even ONCE cross my mind that I'd want to look like one of the dolls. MOST (not all I know) eating disorders start between the early teen and young adult years. As far as I'm concerned these people aren't playing with Barbies on a regular basis, and can by this age differentiate between reality and a doll.
As someone currently suffering with an eating disorder, like many, it came about because of seeing the skinny girls at school, NOT because of a doll.
You can't blame eating disorders on plastic dolls.

What the hell is wrong with the people who hate it?
#1. She is not fat. Yeah, she's got a massive badonk, but most people I know do. She's curvy. She is still not fully proportional, but she is a hell of a lot better than the old Barbie. And how are people gonna complain about her having no cellulite?
#2. Nobody is going to draw a doll with cellulite.
#3. For people with flat butts? For the last 50 years, people with big butts weren't prided for it, and now maybe they can accept themselves. And don't fucking complain about the Barbie not looking like she has an eating disorder or whatever. People aren't supposed to have an eating disorder. I'm not a Lovatic or whatever it's called, but the Barbie is a similar body shape as me and almost everyone I know. Honestly, it is a little bit thicker than my own body, but lots of people have some fat on them. She does look a little bit strange, but we can get used to her. She is brand new, so it's not like we are going to get used to it in a day.
Stop whining about her because honestly, if you saw someone walk down the street looking like old Barbie, I am damn sure you'd be terrified.

Idk about y'all but I really don't like this new Barbie.... The old better Barbie didnt have anything wrong with it. I hope these never reach stores. I still have all my babies and the way they are is what makes them fun. I'm 13 and i know most people don't look like her they are both unrealistic but the older taller skinner one is better. The shorter bigger one would not be that perkie back there if it was that big unless she worked out and most 19 year olds I know do not work out but one or two times a month. This new Barbie is a shame and should never be sold I hate it.

@ Tori

So Tori what you are basically saying is that it's okay for little kids to be brain washed, This sends the kind of image that this is the way people are supposed to look. It's completely unrealistic. You are saying skinnier is a better image to sell and you said the newer barbie doesn't relate to most 19 year old bodies. At least the body type exists. It's like saying a person would be better with less ribs because that's what it would take to have a barbie body. Not everyone works out, big deal. You need a little more to back up what you're saying because you are not sounding that bright. But hey, you're 13 I guess you have a lot to learn.

Yeah, this Barbie is far from realistic. I wish I looked like that, I never wish I looked like the normal Barbie. The original Barbie was fun because of its thinness, the new one is just weird and creepy. It would be awkward dressing that up and playing with it. No little girl is going to want to play with that. They'll probably be scared of it. It looks like a munchkin. That is not normal. That look only looks good on animate objects, real girls. Not plastic toys.

Well i think it is much better because it is teaching people not to be so concious about their appearence. And if you drew barbie out on piece of paper she doesn't even look real. In my opinion it is so much better and teaches people that it is okay to have a big bum and not to have a flat stomach and that it is okay to have a little bit of fat on them, because after all having a little bit of fat it natural.
