Randy Jackson Resigns From American Idol

The Dawg has left the building.

Amidst historically low ratings and criticism that American Idol has grown stale, Randy Jackson resigned this afternoon from the Fox competition.

The Season 12 Team

“Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,” Jackson told E! News. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.”

Jackson went on to say he plans to focus on his company, Dream Merchant 21, as well as “other business ventures.”

Ratings for Season 12 of Idol have been decreasing each week and there's been talk that all four judges would have been replaced this summer even if Jackson did not leave on his own.

Producers are reportedly hoping to assemble some kind of dream team that includes Justin Bieber and/or Selena Gomez.

I had to tape the show each week so I could fast forward whenever Nicki was talking....she ruined the show !!!!!!

after adam lambert season, there isn't anymore good seasons. first simon left that was the only part i still watching american idol now i even randy is leaving, sorry to this show is gone case, ryan should go soon....join x factor or something

At first it was good. But it has just been on too long. The judges are constantly changing. I enjoyed it for a while when Steven Tyler was on there. He was more entertaining than the show itself. When I heard who the new judges were... I knew I wouldnt watch another episode. Its just too old. There are too many singing shows and its time has run out. Simon knew this long ago. Randy now realizes it. The only ones who dont know that its time to call it quits are the production staff...

1234 --->by Kids(lee) may double this month
D.18--->for test system (love love)...and stop* *but some group ennvvvvv....

Why is it every project Seacrest is connected to turns all rancid and makes you wonder why it EVER became popular to begin with!

he hasn't a camel toe like Nicki's, folks!!

American Idol is clearly dying- and fast. The producers have, for the last 3 years or so, been desperately trying to keep it afloat but it IS stale at this point. I personally don't watch any of the singing shows and haven't in years because, really, how different is one season from the next, one show to the next, and how many contestants and winners from previous seasons actually make it and are memorable long-term? I remember Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood and that's literally all without sitting and brainstorming. And I'm sure you're the same. It's Kelly and Carrie and 11 other seasons. The Voice and all the other similar shows were created based on the success of shows like American Idol, which is no longer successful. The Voice is just a different spin on American Idol because American Idol totally sucks. That should give AI a lightbulb. People used to watch AI for the judges. Simon's harsh criticism drew in lots of people, though they'd probably not admit that he was the reason they tuned in. Also, the audition process was interesting because it was fast-paced. By about the middle of any season it got stale, and that deadline has been pushing further and further back and now everyone's just over the whole show. That's why they have to create fake drama between Mariah and Nicki. If it was good enough as a singing show, they would have a singing show. But it's not good enough as a singing show.
