"This is our f--king city."
With those five words, Red Sox slugger David Ortiz encapsulated an entire city's attitude Saturday, one day after the Boston bombing suspect was captured.
Before the team's Saturday game, before which the governor, mayor and law enforcement officials were honored, Ortiz took the mic to address the crowd:
"This is our f--king city, and nobody's going to dictate our freedom," Ortiz said after thanking authorities, then helped lead Boston to a 4-3 victory over K.C.
In recent years, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recoiled at such language displays, issuing huge fines to networks that air them.
On Saturday, no one bleeped out Ortiz, and the FCC Tweeted that was A-OK.
Good for them. Some things kind of warrant an f-bomb, don't you think?
