ESPN to Katherine Webb, Viewers: Sorry for Brent Musberger Verbal Boner!

by at . Comments

ESPN is very sorry that Brent Musberger developed a verbal boner for Katherine Webb on the air last night.

In comments that have overshadowed Alabama's demolition of Notre Dame in the BCS title game, the 73-year old announcer went a tad overboard in showering Webb - the girlfriend of Tide quarterback AJ McCarron - with praise based on her physical appearance.

Watch and listen to Musberger go off about Webb now:

And even though Webb was flattered by the compliments (and gained over 100,000 Twitter followers as a resuly!), ESPN has issued the following statement in response:

"We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."

Note to ESPN: never, ever show Musberger any Kate Upton bikini photos on air.
