Fred Willard Fired by PBS, Issues Statement

by at .

In light of his, ahem, embarrassing arrest, Fred Willard finds himself without a steady job.

The 78-year old actor, who was booked last night on charges of lewd conduct when police caught him with his pants down in a movie theater, has been let go as the voice of PBS's Antique Rainbows spinoff, Market Warriors

The veteran actor's attorney, however, has issued a statement proclaiming his client's innocence.

"With all due respect to the individual officer, our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law," Paul Takakjian tells TMZ. "We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter."

In the meantime, can someone please buy this man a big screen TV and a DVD player?

Why does it always have to involve the gays. Heterosexual men don't go to these places and do lewed things? Just remember that all men are very sexual whether gay or not. Straight men go to peep shows here in nyc. It doesn't matter gay or not. I am a straight female and just sick and tired of the same things over and over. It has to do with the individual.

Leave the ole guy alone. It was an adult theatre. Poor judgment on his part to do that in a public place though. Maybe he's getting senile. He needs counseling/help/companionship.

Wow, I am surprised to hear he was arrested on this charge, but if its true, then the right thing was done, and I hope he gets the help he needs, if it is a mistake then I hope everything gets cleared up and he is re-hired at his job
