Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Creator on Kate Upton: Not Impressed!
Plenty of people are impressed by Kate Upton's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover. The shot-callers at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show are not among them.
It's unclear when and how the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show became a paragon of class, but evidently, it considers itself as much ... and is not enamored with Kate.
"We would never, ever use [Kate Upton]," Sophia Neophitou, a stylist, fashion editor and the brains behind the Victoria's Secret event told the New York Times.
"She's like a Page 3 girl," she said, referring to the scantily clad voluptuous women featured in The Sun, a London tabloid. "She's like a footballer's wife."
"The too-blond hair, that kind of face anyone with money can go out and buy."
Yikes!
Apparently SI disagrees, choosing her as 2012's swimsuit edition cover girl. To her credit, Upton makes no pretense of being fashionable or elegant.
"What can I say?" she told the Times. "I'm relatable."
One big reason to relate to the 19-year-old is her figure. Unlike the majority of rail thin runway models you see, Upton's measurements are a healthy 36-25-34.
Is any guy not loving the SI cover featuring Kate? If she's not gaunt or "exotic" enough for VS, that's their loss. We'll take this all-American girl the way she is any day.

The fashion industry is something that many people seem to love and loathe. A models job is to sell a product to a particular clientele , the designer has an idea of the crowd they are selling to or would like to appeal to and more than anything , they want to sell their design. Fashion models were originally not supposed to be beautiful nor were the bodys they frailly carried around, they were supposed to be a walking coat hanger that didn't distract from their clothing line . I am unsure quite when it happened that coat hangers began dictating the general publics idea of beautiful however , victorias secret and sports illustrated haven't helped. Sports illustrated is one kind of client , notice gisele had NEVER been featured in there ? Victorias secret a completely different client. So one beautiful girl can sit next to another

Victoria's Secret is overpriced, inferior quality lingerie. That was an ignorent comment by their spokesperson -- this girl is beautiful, why wouldn't she sell underwear? Odd response.

Neoshitzu needs to back off!! I'm a forty year old mom with two teenagers and I'm thrilled to see an all natural girl who doesn't have a 4 inch gap beween her thighs, with real boobs and a nice arse! Bring back Brigette Bardot, Ursula Andres, Sophia Lauren not androgynous...I haven't had solid food in 3 months VS models...

I'd rather have her body than the Victoria's Secret gals. It goes in this order: Kate Upton's body, my current body, the Vicky's Hush-Hush body. The last show they put on- those girls are absolutely too thin. It was gross. I wasn't envious or felt bad about what I was eating when I caught a clip of it. And I think they're feelin' a little threatened because after that, more men and women were all saying those girls were too thin. They'd NEVER have a Tyra Banks again with their current image. I don't think they've had a backlash over how emaciated the models look before like they did this year.
I'd rather have some curves than bruise my dude with my hip bones. Blech. And yeah, she's (Kate) plain looking (I thought they should've picked a more exotic-looking girl, as we already had a Brooklyn Decker; let's go less bleh), but at least she doesn't look hungry.

ok, since when is vs classy? they are filled with nothing but tiny, underweight, prepubesent teens who aspire to be nothing but skin and bones just so they can walk for some damn overpriced costume ligerie brand. really? im 38-24-38 and proud of it. if anything, i would want to be like kate not some too bit skinny bitch that sticks out her hipbone and call it sexy. that's not sexy. i'd rather have my measurements and be called fat then to be looked at like i have a disease or something. whats wrong with putting a girl who is beautiful and curvacious on the cover of a magazine that gets more mens heart pumping than a vs mag? nothing is wrong with that. jealousy is something that should not rear its ugly, skinny head in any direction, bc it will ripped oof and handed back to them on a silver platter. ok, i feel better.

I am so sick of the fashion industry, everyone is made the way they are for a reason, this woman is beautiful, who are they to say she isn't good enough, shame on them!!!

I wish I looked half as good as she does.
Just leave her alone everyone is so jealous of her they have to make her feel badly when in fact they feel badly about themselves and that is a fact.
