Former NBA player Isaiah “J.R.” Rider was arrested in Arizona this week for violating his probation, according to reports. He spends a lot of his time in jail.

Rider played in the NBA from 1993 to 2001. He is currently behind bars in the Maricopa County, Ariz., jail – DMX‘s stomping grounds!! – on a no-bail hold.

It’s unclear why police believe Rider violated his probation. Rider himself said he has no idea, pleading for answers at a hearing shortly after the arrest.

Rider’s probation stems from a 2010 incident in which he fled from the police after they tried to pull the baller over for driving erratically. Usually a bad idea.

He played in college at UNLV and then professionally for the L.A. Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets.

He has had a long history of run-ins with police – fraud, battery, domestic violence, false reporting, kidnapping, possession of narcotic drugs … you name it.

Basically, almost as many arrests as career points per game (16.7).
