Officials Won't Reopen Rebecca Zahau Investigation

California's Attorney General says officials will not reopen the investigation into the death Rebecca Zahau, despite calls from Jonah Shacknai to do so.

Rebecca's nude body was found hanging from a balcony at Jonah's Coronado, Calif., mansion, days after his son, Max, was found unconscious there.

Rebecca's death was ruled a suicide, which her family vehemently disagrees with. Max later died from injuries he sustained from an accidental fall.

Despite the mysteriousness of Zahau's suicide message and the way her body was found, among other factors, officials consider the matter closed.

In a letter from Kamala Harris' office to Jonah Shacknai, the A.G. writes:

"Your letter requests an inquiry into the investigation that was conducted by the San Diego Sheriff's Office ... The California Department of Justice would review a local investigation under very narrow circumstances."

"Some of the factors that are considered before committing the state's scarce resources include whether a clear conflict of interest exists, whether local law enforcement agency has requested assistance, whether local investigative resources have been exhausted, and whether there are allegations of gross malfeasance by the investigative agency."

"Based on a review of your request, we must decline your invitation to review this investigation at this time."

HOW CAN WE SEE A MURDER AND JUST LET THE MURDERER GET OFF!!!?????

"The California Department of Justice would review a local investigation under very narrow circumstances... whether there are allegations of gross malfeasance by the investigative agency." How about the vast majority of the general public screaming cover up??? What does it take for elected officials to do their job that they are elected to do??? Unbelievable!!!

Guest #1, Great catch! It's amazing how many media reports are incorrectly reporting this as "Shacknai asked to reopen the investigation", which he absolutely did not. I too have been posting the same message on news stories that are confusing (intentionally or just shoddy reporting) the reopening versus certifying that the initial investigation was complete and thorough. - Guest #2

Nice PR stunt...it is amazing the insiders trying to push this as suicide on boards and also the disturbing picture they are trying to paint of this victim. Very sad. Reopen the case now. Sloppy police work and enough new evidence that points to homicide. MOO

Shacknai did not request that the investigation be reopened. He wanted the investigation to be certified as being complete and thorough. Big Difference!
