Sarah Palin "Crosshairs" Map: Still on Facebook!

by at . Comments

It turns out that Sarah Palin's controversial list of "targets" in the 2010 elections, which included U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, is still on Facebook.

Giffords was shot over the weekend and is in critical condition.

No one thinks Palin was responsible or even indirectly to blame for the act of lunacy committed by Jared Loughner, but she been getting flack for her fiery rhetoric and apparent gun imagery in the wake of the shooting. Her response?

Sarah's Targets

A Palin staffer defended the above graphic, saying, "We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights ... It was simply crosshairs like you'd see on maps."

Riiiight. Maybe we've been watching too much Sarah Palin's Alaska, but somehow we weren't thinking about cartography when we saw this. Or when she Tweeted at "Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America [to] RELOAD!"

How about you? When you think of crosshairs, you think of ...

Folks, those are surveyor symbols, not cross hairs
But don't take my word for it, Look it up. "Stay Balanced"...exactly. Thank you.

For all you simple minded Sarah Palin detractors what ever happened to the concept that he who pulls the trigger obviously is the person responsible for his bullet hitting whatever it is that, he with malice of fore thought, intended to hit. In other words, the perp (one who pulled trigger) is not the victim; he is the violent offender. The victim is in fact the perps victim and no one else.

C'mon people. This is not brain surgery. Do you think that Sarah Palin knows more about guns or geography (maps)....based on what we know there is no other possible conclusion than guns and those listed candidates were merely target practice. Afterall when you ask Palin about geography her answer is "I can see Russia from my house"...

I do not think that she condoned a shooting nor has funded or directly assisted in its carrying out, but I do believe that she is not morose in the least that it happened. I actually think that she thinks that 'the less, the better!' in this case or 'Well, at least there's no more worrying about her.'
It is quite saddening to see that a tragedy like Tuscon can not help bring our country together to further prevent a problem such as this, but to rather continue to drive us further apart, attempting to direct blame on someone or something and for feeding their motive...

This poll is ridiculous. If given only those two choices one would obviously choose guns over maps... All I see is a target which neither gives me an impression of a gun or a map. Why can't cross-hairs be just that... cross-hairs?

Sickening that the Dems would try and mould this tragedy into a way to disparage their opponents. Ya Palin is putting hits out on you all if.

I am sick to death of the Sara Palin crap. She, to me, is an ignorant woman. She is behind a lot of this stuff and just keeps it going.
Her voice is enough to incite anything vulgar. She sounds like a banshee. That is not a ladylike voice. McCain's biggest mistake was picking that thing as his running mate. Was he that scared of Hilary? He wished that demon woman on the world. She should just STFU for a change. The whole family stinks.
Why did the daughter buy a house in Arizona? Was there a particular reason? Did it have anything to do with what just went down?

I can see why people have gravitated to criticism of the crosshairs in the map. It is consistent with the word imagery in the 4th paragraph, which says "We'll aim for these races and many others. This is the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the country...". However: such imagery is common to all sides, both Dems and Repubs. How many times have you heard the evening news on MSNBC and FOX say "the battle lines are drawn" "another salvo from the Obama camp" "Sarah Palin fired back at her critics today..." It's commonly accepted. Don't focus just on Sarah. It is nothing she has or is creating. I'm a liberal, and I would not vote for her, but I hate to see her getting unfair criticism. Neither side should be pointing fingers. No rational person should buy into the idea that anyone, on any side, would ever, ever want to see another human being hurt by crazy fools.

As the country mourns during the aftermath of the senseless bloodbath that occurred in Arizona; whatever inane rhetoric Sarah Palin and her ‘Tea Party’ constituents offers as any consolation is nothing more than nonsensical drivel! Along with freedom of speech comes responsibility, and Sarah Palin and her right wing conservatives are as guilty as if they themselves had pulled the trigger. As Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has so eloquently pointed out; “The way that she has it depicted has the cross hairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have got to realize there are consequences to that action. As far as I am concerned, Sarah Palin is a perpetrator herself, and an accessory to the crimes which were perpetrated in Arizona. The anti-Semitic sentiments advocated by Palin et. al. are no less reprehensible than that advocated by Adolf Hitler.

There is absolutely no doubt that Sarah Palin's hateful remarks and actions allow for the possibility that some dangerous idiots who are not playing with a full deck will take them at face value and do what they believe is going to be not only acceptable but applauded. There are a lot of people out there who can be manipulated by mean, deceitful, horrible people like Sarah Palin into doing what they believe people like her really want. If anybody thinks that the crosshairs on the map of the U.S. were for anything other than the crosshairs of a gun, they are delusional, too. Sarah Palin and all the other right wing fools who spread words of hate and destruction as a part of their political beliefs should be held responsible for any destructive actions their rhetoric causes. ENOUGH already!! Make them PAY for inciting violence! They are terrorists and it's time we started treating them as such!

What I've had to do, though, is in the middle of the night, put down the Blackberries and pick up the breast pump. Do a couple of things different and still get it all done.
