Chris Brown BET Awards Tribute to Michael Jackson: Tears Flow For the Man in the Mirror
Last night's BET Awards featured lots of big names - Kanye West, Usher, T.I. - but perhaps the most talked-about performance came from Chris Brown.
The embattled singer, who has kept a relatively low profile of late, provided an emotional tribute to the late Michael Jackson, breaking down in tears.
Chris was introduced by Michael's brother, Jermaine Jackson.
After a lengthy performance featuring the sickest Michael-inspired dance moves you'll ever see, Brown took the mic to sing "Man in the Mirror" and lost it.
Nearly six minutes into the elaborate MJ homage, his voice cracked, he couldn't sing, and at one point he crumpled to the stage in apparent agony.
MAN IN THE MIRROR: For Chris Brown, that Michael Jackson hit took on an entirely different meaning as he paid tribute to his idol on stage at the 2010 BET Awards.
Coupled with the one-year anniversary of Michael's death, the moving moment was made even more so by the song's lyrics and Chris' recent past.
The 21-year-old returned to the stage later to apologize to his fans: "I let you all down before, but I won't do it again. I promise you," Brown said.
Say what you will about the guy and what he's been through, the performance was actually pretty cool and showed how MJ's music influenced him.
Was that really what it was about, though? Or was it about exploiting Michael's memory for some much-needed positive PR, as some fans have said?

Kudos to Chris Brown for such a fabulous performance! It was quite moving and really highlighted how talented he truly is. I feel that whether his breakdown was for MJ or because of the song and its meaning, it is great to see a man be man enough to cry in public. I think CB's therapist would call his performance a breakthrough. I think what we have all neglected to recognize is that CB is very young and despite the seriousness of the act he committed he is trying to move forward and repent. It's funny how quickly people are to judge him as if he is the first to have committed such a horrendous act. I can guarantee that he will not be the first or the last. Let's not forget Tyson people! We all make mistakes, some more grave than others. The hope and the ideal is that we can learn from them in order to never commit them again. Rock on Chris Brown!

I love more the you can ever know Michael . My biggest dream on this earth was to meet you and sadly it never happened. Even though I will go through this lifetime without ever meeting you, I still hope that one day, maybe, we can meet in the after life. God sees my heart and he knows that my biggest wish was to meet you and I believe I will, one day :). I hope you are in a peacefull wonderfull place right now, looking down at us, smiling and being proud of what u have accomplished and what you've meant to all of us. To me u were the lead in this world and I will never ever forget you. Love you longtime. xoxoxo

Look people, I just saw this Chris Brown performance and having seen Chris Brown's interviews and what not in the past, I know for a fact that he was a HUGE fan of Michael's. I am probably one of the very few people who supported Michael from beginning to end, till today. I supported him through all of this child molestation shit. And by looking and hearing Chris Brown talk about MJ in his interviews, I just know that he loved him just as much as I did. And personnally as a BIG fan of MJ, there are certain songs that I cant listen too without breaking down in tears, like Man in the Mirror. I think it is the same case for Chris Brown. I think he cried because of the fact that Michael is no longer here on earth, and not so much about his own troubles. Chris looked up to Michael more then anyone else and "Man in the Mirror" is a song emotionally is charged. I feel like everytime I listen to that song, It just brings me back to June 25th 2009. It is incredibly hard to loose an idol. At lea

Chris did a great job cant wait to see him perform again, true what he did was wrong and he understands that. At 18,19 years old is the beginning of a long road ahead he should't be forever punished. If we can forgive the drug dealers and gangmembers that have harmed or killt many and careers are doing just fine we made them multi-millionaires. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CHRIS

The CB performance was sincere. He has looked at the man in the mirror and didn't like what he saw. I believe Chris realizes that what he did was inexcusable and he is paying a heavy price for his actions. The fact that radio stations stopped playing his music and he can't book performances is a serious consequence. He needs to continue counseling throughout his life to make sure he never does anything like what he did to Rihanna again. Anyone that makes you that angry you need to leave them alone. Or if you see an individual in a rage leave him/her along. It is not worth it!
