Bret Michaels Leads Pack of American Idol Performers

Lee DeWyze may have won American Idol last night, but Bret Michaels stole the show.

The recovering rocker appeared on stage with Casey James and sang a duet of his classic, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Despite recent health problems, Bret looked right at home in front of the thousands in attendance.

Watch and give the man a hand now...

Other artists on the season nine finale included: Christina Aguilera; every past American Idol champion (except David Cook), who sang together in honor of Simon Cowell; and Janet Jackson.

Check out their performances below. Which was your favorite?

Last year Adam Lambert should have won. This year Crystal Bowersox was better than Lee even though I do like Lee too- she was better than him. Disappointing results.

I thought Bret should have sat this one out. Nothing to say bad about Bret, it's just he needs to recuperate. His body has been through an ordeal. I was glad to see him and then again, I was scared for him, too. I was glad when the song was over(nothing bad about the song).

Dear millineumlaura(your opinion) I respect u for that. Bret Michaels is a human-being. If you assume (these are his last days) or what the public knows or does not know. We're all living on borrowed time, we can drop at anytime. We can sit back and be a Eeyore or go out and be a Tigger! He's a Tigger!!

He rocked the stage and good for him to keep going on..and is with his family that flew with him and a relaxing JET!
    Keep on keeping on Bret...

I think Casey and Mike gave the best performance of the evening. I also think Casey should have been named the American Idol. Casey will make his name in the music industry as Carrie Underwood. He is an excellent singer and guitarist. I expect to see him go a long way.
By the way, I am not a cougar. I am a mother of seven and Casey is right in there with the age of my children. I looked at him as an artist and thought him a young man worthy of the title. Even without the title, I feel he has a great future ahead. My Best to Casey.

Been a Poison fan since '85-'86 - My mouth dropped as soon as Casey started singing - I knew then that Bret must be there ;0) Still getting teary-eyed thinking about it- best performance and surprise of the night! Can't wait to see Bret/Poison live again someday soon!

Bret was great!!!!! So proud of him. As a fellow type 1 diabetic the last thing he needs to do is to "relax". He has all kinds of doctors keeping a very close eye on him. He knows his limitations, etc........ It was great to see him play and sing.

Bret Michael and Casey James rocked the stage and gave the best performance of the night!

I hope Bret's health problems are behind him.

Casey you are the best American Idol ever!

If I was Bret I would take it easy and relax. I'm sorry to say but his diagnosis may be worse than we (the public thinks) and he's just trying to live out his final days as best as he can. His enablers are probably pushing him too far, just like Michael Jackson's people did to him. Anyone in their right mind would have their feet propped up and be in a relaxing environment, but Bret is going on television interviews and singing whenever he can, and that too me is just crazy silly. I don't feel as sorry for him as I did before, because I think that he is just squandering his time to heal his body and he's just running around like a crazy person. Bret's appearances do not appeal to me. There are many people that if given another chance to recover from the near death experiences as he has been given, would treasure the chance and fully recover. No this man is trying to go out like a bang, and that is just what might happen. Please don't get me wrong, I don't wish anything bad upon
