Adam Lambert American Music Awards Performance: Awesome or Inappropriate?

Taylor Swift was the big winner at last night's American Music Awards. No surprise there.

But viewers and audience members were shocked when Adam Lambert closed the show with a controversial performance that's been lighting up Twitter accounts and gossip blogs all night long.

Following songs by Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Lady Gaga, Lambert took to the stage in a silver suit.

He proceeded to gyrate against back-up singers and kiss a male band member. Throw in some S&M imagery and a bit of simulated sex and you have a buzzed-about performance that puts Lambert directly in the spotlight just as his debut album hits stores today.

    Adam's electric performance at the AMA blew my freakin' mind. It was so hot and mesmerizing from start to end. Hottest thing I've seen on TV in ages. It felt revolutionary. I felt like a badass rebel just watching it. God, what a performance! Adam is sexy beyond words. Give us moar Adam, moar!!!

    Some people act like it was the worst thing ever on TV . Are you f-cken kidding me ? Personally, I think Adam is amazing as a person and performer . He is truly a real down to earth guy that just has a little edge to him, so what ? Oh yeah, he's gay .. uhh, yeah . That's a REAL problem, sheesh . I find no problem with him kissing his band player and the way he performed that night . Britney, Madonna & Christina all shared a lip-lock and it's suddenly oh so great, and not really bad . But when an openly gay performer does, it's soo bad ! It's such a discrimination, those people need to realize that . This world just isn't fair .

    Adam lambert performance was awesome !!! Those who say that his performance was deemed inappropriate are discriminated against his homosexuality. When singers (female) fo the same criticism is distinct and are not censored. When Rihanna or any other artists sing and dance with no clothes daring criticism. But for a kiss ahhhh! What a shame. But Adam, I love you! " Continue to do what you do you're the best!!

    He's the male equivalent of Lady Ga Ga. I don't care for that kind of trashy performance no matter who it comes from. His voice was terrible in this performance; I didn't see that much genuine talent there--just performance for shock value, like most of today's young performers.
