Elyse Umemoto Photos Spark Latest Beauty Queen Scandal

by at .

I'm thrilled. I get my life back. No more shopping, no more stressing about interviews.

-- Elyse Umemoto, following her third place finish at the 2008 Miss America Pageant.

Somewhere between this quote - which was given around January - and this week, Umemoto must have decided that she actually doesn't want the life of a random beauty queen back.

Instead, she wants to follow in the scandalous footsteps of Amanda Polumbo, Tara Conner, Katie Rees and Valerie Begue - all pageant contestants that have become better known for snorting cocaine, feeling up female friends and posing like Jesus.

Why else would a series of photos depicting Elyse Umemoto behaving badly all of a sudden appear on the Internet? Here's an example:

Oral Sex Sign

One of several Elyse Umemoto pictures that Miss Washington officials are less than thrilled about.

Miss Washington Executive Field Director Mike Miller told celebrity gossip site TMZ the organization is "embarrassed."

Follow this article's jump now to see what he said in a statement, along with many other Elyse Umemoto pictures...

The pageant representative's statement reads:

Elyse Umemoto is an outstanding young woman and has been a brilliant representative for the Miss Washington Scholarship Organization. We continue to be very proud of her... It is unfortunate that her behavior in unguarded moments has attracted attention.

We do not condone the behaviors depicted in these photos. However, there will be no discipline for Elyse based on the behavior evidenced in the photos.

I disagree on one point, cosmo. I'm afraid we're going to have to eat the horses.

I don't know which is more reprehensible: Ms. Unemoto's dispicable display of poor judgement, or the inexplicable attempt to excuse her behavior by the pageant saying it was an "unguarded momement". Hello-o-o-o-o....if that is how she behaves, particularly wearing the crown representing the state of Washington, WHAT are pageant officials thinking??!?

Gossip is idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others. While gossip forms one of the oldest and most common means of spreading and sharing facts and views, it also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and other variations into the information thus transmitted. The term also carries implications that the news so transmitted (usually) has a personal or trivial nature. Compare conversation. Some people commonly understand gossip as meaning the spreading of dirt and misinformation, as (for example) through excited discussion of scandals. Some newspapers carry "gossip columns" which detail the social and personal lives of celebrities or of élite members of certain communities. FOLKS KEEP ALL THIS IN PERSPECTIVE. Hollywood Gossip is a gossip rag. It makes its’ money and notoriety off gossip not truth or REALITY.

The general public don't really care. It's not like she posed nude or anything. Personally, I'd like to see more poking around in the closests of the self-righteous. Now that would make for some juicy news!
