In June of last year, Tracy Morgan was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of his friend James McNair and left the comedian severely injured.
There were rumors that Morgan would never walk or appear in public again, but today, almost a full year since the tragedy, Morgan appeared on Today to discuss his ongoing physical and emotional recovery.
"I can't believe I'm here," a choked-up Morgan began. "I can't believe I'm in front of you."
Morgan sued Wal-Mart for the company's "negligent" role in the crash (a driver for the retail chain had allegedly been awake for more than 24 hours when he struck Morgan's tour bus), but it's clear in this interview that while he's satisfied with the outcome of his case, his turmoil is far from over.
"The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac," Morgan said. "Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal."
