Oops! Ted Cruz’s bad!

The 2016 Presidential hopeful was speaking at an event in Howell, Michigan on Wednesday night when he made a very poorly-timed joke about Joe Biden.

"Vice President Joe Biden. You know the nice thing?" Cruz said. "You don’t need a punchline. I promise you it works.

"The next party you’re at, just walk up to someone and say, ‘Vice President Joe Biden’ and just close your mouth. They will crack up laughing."

It’s not a terrible line, but the timing could not have been worse:

Beau Biden, Joe Bien’s 46-year old son, died from a brain tumor last week.

The Vice President also lost his young daughter Naomi and his first wife, Neilia Hunter, in a tragic car accident in 1972.

Beau’s funeral is set for Saturday.

"It was a mistake to use an old joke about Joe Biden during his time of grief, and I sincerely apologize," Cruz wrote on Facebook in response.

"The loss of his son is heartbreaking and tragic, and our prayers are very much with the Vice President and his family."
