Justin Bieber is back to making music.
Skrillex and Diplo - an EDM duo best known by the stage name Jack Ü - have come out with the official music video to their top 20 smash hit, “Where Are U Now.”
But most viewers are focused less on these artists than on the one who takes center stage to kick off the footage, Mr. Justin Bieber himself.
The artistic video opens with Bieber as some kind of living painting, somberly singing some sad lyrics as he emerges from the shadows of a portrait.
Eventually, the singer’s skin grows into a canvas and the screen is overlapped with fan-made doodles.
In one especially heartfelt moment, paint covers Bieber's face and drips down him as he just keeps on singing.
Most presume this track was written with Selena Gomez in mind.
Writes Skrillex and Diplo in the YouTube description for the video:
"Justin wrote this record during a tough time in his life and it comes to us that sometimes as artists, we are also just objects and we have to take that as much as we have to use that to create.
"We all do this for you, respect that you put us here and it’s Ü that made the video.”
