After Jay Smith spent weeks in ICE custody, his boss bailed him out. He’s enjoying his freedom.

It looks like this experience brought them even closer together than before, because they’ve now taken things to the next level.
That’s right: Jay and Kayla are now Instagram official.
The funny thing about having all of these eyes on his relationship is that a lot of fans are reaching the same conclusions.
In some photos, Kayla seems to look an awful lot like Ashley. Does Jay have a type or what?
Jay went through a miserable divorce
He and Ashley’s marriage fell apart more than once on 90 Day Fiance. Finally, in April, Ashley discovered that Jay had a whole other relationship and signaled that it was the end — no more taking him back.
Even divorced, their troubles weren’t over
Months ago, when Ashley went on vacation with her family, she returned to find that Jay had allegedly broken into her house to take some of her belongings. She contacted the police.
Breaking and entering is a crime
Using what she says is evidence of abuse during their marriage, Ashley secured a PFA order — Protection From Abuse — from the court on July 1.
Unfortunately …
Page one of the order enjoins Jay from discussing the PFA, but he for some reason decided to mention it on his Instagram Stories for all to see — almost immediately.
Ashley was devastated
When she learned that he was going to be arrested even earlier than immigration officials had planned, the part of her that still loves Jay began to grieve intensely.
Here, Jay did the right thing
He turned himself in to law enforcement authorities. That’s smart. If you have the option, don’t ever make them come to you.
He was arrested
Jay was arrested on July 3, and would spend the next few weeks — the rest of the month, in fact — behind bars in ICE custody. Why ICE? Because he is neither a citizen nor a legal resident. (Not that either of those factors seem to stop ICE from locking people up these days)
Then, something curious happened
A GoFundMe sprung up, being run by the same person — a young woman named Kayla — who took charge of Jay’s Instagram account while he was locked up.
Kayla wasn’t just a friend
She was Jay’s girlfriend. And it appears that she was also the mistress with whom he cheated on Ashley for months, starting in January.
Ultimately, Jay made bail
Out of nowhere, his boss at Ego Ink wrote out a check himself to bail Jay out of custody.
Why?
Ego went on to explain that he saw a lot of himself in Jay, having also come to the US as a young immigrant dreaming of being a tattoo artist. Ego’s words were a great reminder that some people see totally different sides of the same person.
Jay was cut loose
On July 31, Jay was a free man, and with the exception of Jay himself, no one was happier about it than Kayla.
Jay broke his silence on the subject
Taking to Instagram, he warned that the experience had shown him who would be there for him and who would not when he was in a crisis.
And as for Kayla …
It appears that this whole experience has brought the two of them closer together.
They’re now Instagram Official!
If you’re not familiar with that term, it’s when two people who are known or at least rumored to be dating decide to appear together on Instagram as an acknowledgement of their relationship.
They’re living it up
Jay is happy to be free, Kayla is happy that he’s free, and it looks like they’re both overjoyed to celebrate that together.
And fans can see it all
Well, not EVERYTHING. Some of their captions are a little risque — using emojis to make it clear that they plan to bone when they get home from the bar. Let’s be real — we didn’t need the emojis to know that.
There’s a bittersweet element to all of this fun
It is still believed that Jay’s deportation is looming and unavoidable. Is he planning to fight for legal residency (and somehow win?) or is he just enjoying his final days in the US?
In the mean time, fans have some thoughts about Kayla
“Definitely has a type,” suggests one comment. “She is Ashley’s twin in this picture.”
Is Jay trying to replace his ex wife?
“She looks like Ashley when you first look at her,” another claimed.
Some people had to do a double take
“I thought this WAS Ashley for a minute,” a commenter confesses.
Are they right?
Ashley and Kayla are both pretty, white, and blonde. Beyond that, we don’t really see much of a resemblance. They both certainly have faces, but they’re hardly the same face.
Regardless, there’s more to Jay’s story
In the coming days and weeks, we expect to find out what he — and immigration court — have planned for his future. According to Ashley, this is the month where he’s likely to be shipped back to Jamaica. Only time will tell.
