Jay Smith spent almost all of the month of July behind bars in ICE custody.
He would still be there — had his boss not bailed him out in a stunning display of generosity.
Now, Jay’s ex-wife, Ashley Martson, is weighing in on Jay’s arrest.
(The arrest happened because he violated the Protection From Abuse order that she took out on him, after all)
Ashley reveals that Jay’s cheating goes above and beyond what’s already public knowledge.
She also says that his deportation is pretty much inevitable — and that she doesn’t give a flying flip so long as he’s out of her life.
Ashley is speaking out
After Jay was arrested, spent weeks in ICE custody, and then got bailed out by his boss, Ashley is weighing in — and spilling everything she knows about his cheating. There was more of it than fans had realized.
She says Jay needed no help getting himself arrested
Speaking to In Touch Weekly, Ashley explains: “It said right on the front, like you can’t discuss Ashley or this PFA on social media. And he did.”

If you’re not allowed to discuss something, putting it in your Instagram Stories isn’t the best move.
But Jay was going to jail regardless
“I did know they were coming on,” Ashley reveals. “It was on a Thursday. So they were coming on Monday to detain him because he was there illegally.”
Jay only hastened the inevitable
“The PFA and the violation just got him arrested basically two days earlier than what he would have been,” Ashley adds.
Won’t part of her miss him when he’s gone?
“Honestly, I don’t really care if he’s deported,” Ashley admits. It sounds like she’s experienced a lot of personal growth this year. A few months ago, she’d have been torn up at the idea.
So what does she want?
“I just want him to leave me alone,” Ashley says bluntly. Hopefully, one way or the other, she’ll get her wish.
Now … Jay didn’t cheat alone
We’re not suggesting that any mistress or side piece is as culpable as a cheating spouse, of course. But in Jay’s case, the cheating goes a long, long way back.
Ashley knew about Kayla for months
“I was alerted about her in January,” Ashley reveals while speaking to Us Weekly. It might sound (even more) bizarre that she took him back that month, but as it turns out, it looks like one bit of cheating covered for another.
Hearing about Kayla is what made Ashley ask questions
“So, I know, like, in the episode where the barbershop sat me down, I refer to a stripper,” Ashley reminds fans. “That’s who I was referring to.”
So, in other words
It sounds like Ashley got a tip that Jay had some sort of side piece, possibly a stripper. Ashley went to the barbershop to fish for information on said side piece. Instead of hearing about Kayla, Ashley heard about a random bathroom hookup that got Jay roughed up for disrespecting the place of business.
It was months before Ashley really learned about Kayla
“He was talking to Kayla, and I found some messages,” Ashley recalls. “He was going to the strip club, like, many times a week. … Then someone had alerted me that, like, he was talking to one of the girls in there. I never knew who it was or anything.”
Ashley filed for divorce in April
This was when she learned that Jay had a whole other relationship going on behind her back. She was furious, especially after she had given him so many chances.
Ashley solved the Kayla puzzle in July
“And then the GoFundMe came out [after Smith ended up in ICE custody],” Ashley shares. “And I put all the pieces together.”

Apparently, though many may have guessed as much, the scope of Jay’s cheating goes beyond his Tinder scandal, his barbershop bathroom hookup, and his long-term sidepiece.
How many times did he cheat?
According to Ashley, Jay has slept with SIX women since she and he married in 2018. Keep in mind that it’s always possible that there are others about whom Ashley does not know.
Is there ANY chance of reconciliation?
Ashley shoots down that idea, saying that she would first need “hell to freeze over” before she’d even consider taking back Jay. Good.
So yes, it’s over
But we somehow don’t think that Ashley — or fans — will feel a real sense of closure on this story until Jay’s residency situation is resolved. Will he be deported? Will he fight for legal residency? If he does, will he stand a snowball’s chance in hell of winning?
Let’s just be glad that they’ve split
Ashley and Jay were no good for each other. Fans can pick one side or the other if they want, but I think that we can all agree that Ashley and Jay are much better off apart.
