90 Day Fiance stars Ashley Martson and Jay Smith are still reeling after their secret Instagram account was exposed.
They were the ones "leaking" their own photos.
A lot of fans feel lied to. And so do some of their own castmates.
Ashley has begged fans for forgiveness, explaining that fame mixed with a very complicated situation got the best of her.
Now, she has another announcement, made in an interview with RadarOnline.
She and Jay are quitting 90 Day Fiance.
But that doesn't mean that fans won't see her again. ...
Ashley and Jay are still together -- but their time on 90 Day Fiance has come to an end, as Ashley explained in a new interview with RadarOnline.
First, Ashley confirms what we've known for a while now
"We have filmed for Happily Ever After?," Ashley tells RadarOnline.
90 Day Fiance star Ashley Martson is upbeat, thoughtful, and engaged to a younger man she met at a friend's wedding.
But it's not all good news
"And," Ashley continues. "We have notified them that we quit the show."
What made them quit?
"The final straw was when our story started to become inconsistent," Ashley says.
How did their story get messed up?
"Because," Ashley explains. "Of what we were being asked to hide and not tell followers"
The show, she explains, was asking her to lie
"I stayed by his side after the Tinder scandal," Ashley says.
That was a big deal
As you may recall, she caught Jay FaceTiming with another woman just days after their wedding. He had downloaded Tinder. He would later state, on the Tell All special, that he assumed that it was an app for meeting friends. No one believes that.
90 Day Fiance wanted to keep that a secret
"They wanted us to keep everything private," Ashley reveals. "And say we weren't together." Doing that while the initial season is still airing is one thing, but it's hard to do that for months even after the Tell All has aired.
Ashley and Jay were still living their lives
"But when people were seeing us out," Ashley laments. "They thought we were lying."
They tried to play along with what producers wanted
"We never confirmed or denied our relationship status," Ashley says. That's true, though they did drop some major hints.
Ashley says that the show "ruined" their credibility
That may be so, but we have to say that making a fake account to "leak" their own stuff -- and then getting caught -- played a role in that.
They're done with being 90 Day stars
"We want our old life back," Ashley claims. "We're over being celebrities."

"We want to go back to our lives," she continues. "And focus on our relationship."
Ashley also explains why she stuck with Jay
"I'm a strong woman," she affirms.
Ashley is definitely tough
This is a woman who was kidnapped and assaulted at 19 but escaped. This ia woman who is battling lupus. We don't doubt her strength.
But why did she remain married to Jay?
"It's hard to get over something," Ashley admits. "But I took my vows seriously."
Wait, is she throwing shade?
That line about taking her vows seriously almost sounds like a dig at Jonathan Rivera.
She says "vows" specifically
Fernanda strongly implied on Instagram that, in her view, Jonathan didn't stick to his vows when he refused to accept her apology after their argument late last year.
Is that what's on Ashley's mind?
It's hard to tell if Ashley is purely speaking of herself or if she's thinking of how easily one of her castmates gave up on his marriage, and is thinking of how she doesn't want to make the same mistake.
Anyway, Ashley is taking a break from fame
But she says that she and Jay are releasing a line of underwear and pajamas.
More importantly ...
Ashley says that she will also be focusing on her health during her break from fame. We get the feeling that we'll be hearing from Ashley and Jay again, and not just when they appear on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?
And yes, she really is sick
As she spelled out on Instagram on Tuesday morning, GoFundMe confirmed her illness. Also, TLC themselves spoke about it. The network is not going to participate in helping a star fake an illness. Ashley has lupus and was hospitalized for it. This is no joke.
Ashley and Jay are deep in controversy these days
Just last week, it was revealed that Ashley and Jay had set up their own Instagram account to fake "leaks" of their photos, possibly to get around an NDA. They also received no shortage of sympathy over it from fans and from castmates.
That left their castmates feeling betrayed
A little bit of trickery for fans is expected in the reality business. Lying to your castmates about fake leaks that you yourself orchestrated? They've gotten called out by friends and castmates alike, who just can't trust them again.
All considered, it's not the worst scandal this season
That dubious honor goes to Larissa Lima and Colt Johnson.
