We’re going to again turn to the “American Idol” website, and let the hard-core Idol devotees (and opinionated haters) give their impressions of this week’s episodes. As usual, please be sure to fill us in on anything we missed, and look forward to our continued reliance on this feature, as we present you with forthcoming editions of “This Week On American Idol.”
Synopsis: The top 11 contestants perform to the theme “British Invasion,” with guest mentors Herman (of Herman’s Hermits) and Lulu from AbFab! (Plus, of course, Simon “Small Ben” Cowell lends his usual glib commentary and dour British mug.) Then a starstruck little girl cries hysterically at being trapped in the same room as Sanjaya, Haley takes her own breath away, and JT wannabe Chris shocks by delivering an (almost) praise-worthy performance. And when the votes are counted, we find out the journey ends for boring-but-talented Stephanie, while Phil’s shiny bald head and Sanjaya’s curly tendrils “earn” their spots on this summer’s “Top Ten” tour.
Simon’s Quote of the Week:
• “I think the little [crying] girl’s face says it all,” Simon’s sole critique of Sanjaya’s Tuesday night performance.

Highlights:
• “Chris [Sligh] oozes through the audience, wearing an outfit that must say “WARNING: Makes fat people look much fatter” on the inside label.”
• “Paula encourages the contestants to picture Simon naked, as she so often does in her rare sober moments. Sanjaya has been doing that all along, I suspect, but most of the other contestants have chosen not to permanently scar themselves by partaking.”
• “[Haley Scarnato] struts out onto the stage nearly naked and showing off every inch of cellulite the back of her thighs can muster.”
• “Phil appeals to the audience, wonders if they had fun, eats up the lackluster applause, and grimly stares fate in the face as he runs through a mental checklist of what he needs to pack when he gets back to the apartments.”
• • “Melinda may need to be put on a rack and stretched so that she can prove she has a neck, but Stephanie needs an ab lounger.”
• “Jordin “I’m So Excited” Sparks may be annoyingly perky, but she has got a great voice and brought down the house…if Jordin keeps it up, Melinda may end up in the deluxe apartment in the sky, rather than the next American Idol.”
Amusing Observation:
• “Sanjaya Malakar can’t figure out which song he wants to slaughter this week. His struggle to decide eats up precious moments of my life, so I am forced to web surf while he makes up his melon. Hmmm, it appears that the media consensus on Mr. Malakar has been quite grim, with most pundits agreeing that he sucks harder than a factory full of Hoovers. Meanwhile, even normally cheery, pink-smoke-up-your-bum, rainbow and smiles Peter Noone is looking at Sanjaya like “dude, just forget it, you’re out of your league, and it doesn’t matter what you pick.” He’s going to go with “You Really Got Me.” He has neither the vocal edge nor power that he needs for this song. This is a really bad karaoke night performance. I hate this. I capital H Hate this. His pre-teen girly fans who don’t quite get that he’s monstrously gay are in the audience crying…”

My husband and I have been watching American Idol for 6 years now. I must say I am disappointed with the way the voting is going though. How can a talent like Stephanie get voted off and even be in the bottom 3 when there is a blatant “No Talent” like Sanjaya still hanging about? Either America is tone deaf after the slaughter job he did on the Kinks song, or the voting is fixed, because honestly folks, if Sanjaya is still here after next week, something is seriously wrong and should be examined further. This makes no sense at all.

I’m sorry, but Sanjaya needs to go. He reminds me of Michael Jackson…NOW, not when he 1st started out. michael Jackson was real strong vocally, it’s only that he got older and started ‘changing’ that his voice has become week…and that is what Sanjaya reminds me of…a soft spoken michael jackson. We probably would have been better off listening to his sister…she was much stronger vocally than Sanjaya ever could possibly think of being…and this weeks performance…Simon didn’t say it…dont know why, but it was a real bad KARAOKE performance.
I guess this is a popularity contest…it’s too bad, because as I see it, a lot of people have been let go because they didn’t ‘look’ the part…it’s a wonder we have any singers at all with how in todays world / society, how judgemental we all are with looks…yes looks sell, but how about personality? Ruben studdard…cute as a abugs ear..like Sanjaya…he won the american idol…haven’t heard anything from him where as Clay Aiken, we’ve at least heard a album or two from…what a shame…Sanjaya isn’t ready for this..

Yes, he is targeted because of his Indian origin. Shame on America, the super-power for discrimination, while at the same time, conveniently failing to forget that he is half Italian.
There are many blogs & weblinks labelling Sanjaya in such a shocking & yet predictable trailer-trash language. While there are other contestants whose performances have been neither memorable nor any better than Sanjaya, still they prefer to pick on him. The very fact one would wonder why & conclude the obvious; i.e. prejudice over colour of skin & origin.
This appears to be a race of races to be more precise, than talent. The American audience seems to forget that this is a popularity contest which has a lot to do with selling records.

Dude, I totally disagree. Sanjaya was awesome last week. So what if he wasn’t the best singer? If it wasn’t for him, the whole night would’ve been a complete yawn (except for Jordin).
Cut him some slack and don’t let the media make your decisions for you. He’s getting better and better every week.
Oh and I feel pervy for saying this, but Sanjaya’s performance made me feel warm in places a 17 year old shouldn’t affect me. He became a MAN in one week. Sexy!!!

Number 1, Sanjaya, when the try outs were on, i loved him so much, especially his smile (because his nose pinched up…) but lately, i think he wants to become that Chinese guy that sang ” she bang, she bong…” I think he wants to frame himself, and if you ask me, he should be framed, MJ junior!He’s just like Micheal Jackson….let’s hope he doesn’t go around stocking people!
