The not so important Salon on the negligibly important blogosphere

We’re usually not ones to pay attention to publicity firms when they’re not sending us bottles of Ketel One or forwarding emails of Lizzie Grubman‘s labia hanging out. But with Salon celebrating its 10th anniversary and signing on a new PR co. to announce its goals, well, we just had to forgive them those annoying SitePass interstitials for a little play.

While initial work for Salon will be centered on the anniversary celebration, Plesser noted that the overall goal is to increase traffic to the site.

Part of this strategy will involve getting Salon editors featured on TV, as well as getting the site’s “scoops” picked up by traditional media outlets and influential blogs.

“Certainly having attention to their articles in the blogosphere will draw attention to the site,” Plesser noted.

The blogosphere as important? Finally, the affirmation we’ve been searching for!
