Former Eurhythmics singer Annie Lennox has a zero tolerance policy for rudeness, premature clappers, and slightly inebriated concert-goers who fail to understand when her ten minute trance-like songs are finally over. Apparently, so does her middle finger.
Lennox was well into her second song when people started clapping as the number seemed to end. Our witness reports: “She got ticked, finished the song, then sarcastically said, ‘Thank you for listening’ and gave them the finger. She said everyone was loud and rude and they should have their five mojitos and ‘go see KC and the Sunshine Band if you want to act that way.’ “
Members of the audience were reportedly offended by Lennox’s bizarre tirade, particularly the part where she flipped the bird and accused them of being moderate drinkers for no reason whatsoever. Meanwhile, the remaining members of KC and the Sunshine Band were mostly just grateful for the referral.

“Washed-up”??? Annie Lennox is FAR from “washed-up”. She is one of the most talented pop singers out there — ever. She donates her time, and “uses” her celebrity to raise awareness about varios social/world issues. She, as does any perfomer, deserves respect while performing. And, her songs are not “10 minutes” long, and certainly not “trance-like”. That statement proves that you have no idea what you’re writing about. Read the reviews she has received for this tour. All are glowing.

I agree with Michael. Her new album landed in the Billboard Top Ten its first week of release. Sounds like generational sniping to me.
And who, besides Jossip, is shocked that audiences can be rude? Good for you, Annie!

Annie Lennox didn’t even reach her peak in selling records until the 90s, so for you to claim she’s a washed-up 80s singer shows you either don’t like her or you’re too lazy to fact check. By the way, her 2003 album sold more than Madonna’s “American Life” released the same year and she didn’t even make videos for the singles.
Now go eat some humble pie.

La Lennox a washed-up 80’s singer?…LOL…I can tell whoever wrote this piece hasn’t read the papers or listened to the radio in 20 years, Annie Lennox is anything but washed-up, with a collection of awards, Grammys, Brits, even an Oscar…I wonder if KC and his band can say the same

First off???they were not FANS that Annie Lennox flipped off. They were a drunk, chatty crowd who were SUPPOSED to be there to support the UNICEF project and enjoy some extraordinary entertainment. Regardless of the fact that Annie Lennox has sold over 78 million records, won countless Brits and Grammys and an Academy Award (in 2004), ANY artist on stage should receive respect. I???m glad she had the courage to flip off such a ???prestigious crowd.???

I have been a fan of Annie Lennox since the early 80’s and have loved her solo albums BUT her behavior, especially at a charity concert was rude and uncalled for and very unprofessional. Professional Performers sometimes have off nights and sometimes the crowd may not get what you are singing but if your a professional you do your job and go on. For Annie Lennox to flip the Middle Finger to The Audience is just Low Class and Crude. While I disagree with the comment about Annie being a Washed up singer, sadly , her new cd is not selling well, it is actually going to be her worst selling solo cd ever and with this poor behavior of hers, I doubt it will win her new fans

Yep, Ralph, KC and his glorious Sunshine Band CAN say the same! He has sold WELL over 100 million albums world-wide, Grammys, AMA’s, has had his music featured in nearly 100 motion pictures, plays over 100 shows annually to sold-out crowds and keeps getting better and better with each passing year! Doubt he’s even capable of THINKING of giving the finger to one of his crowds. He and his Sunshine Band are a top-notch, class act…an assembly of well-mannered professionals who would never EVER be caught treating their audience members the way this woman has with such poor, rude behavior. Even KC’s response to this particular episode was class all the way. I’d expect nothing less from him…class is just WHO he is! More people should be like him…our world would definitely be a better, happier place!!! 🙂
