As ABC’s upfront presentation helps bring to a close a flurry of attempts to impress advertisers with sub-par primetime offerings, there was one nugget that caught out eye. No, it wasn’t offering up the gay nephew on Ugly Betty singing show tunes. And it wasn’t promising Christina Applegate could deliver another sitcom with a few seasons of life. It was when ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson told the audience of deep pockets about the network’s new game show.
