Premiere season is in full swing. Some are blowing our minds, others are breaking our hearts.

Like the news on Arrow Season 3 Episode 1 that Sara, The Canary, is dead. And that was but the tip of the iceberg on last night’s season opener.

How is Oliver adjusting to being both a man and The Arrow?

After saving the city, Oliver has been forgiven. Now he has to decide whether he wants to be a man, a hero, or both. Is it possible to be both?

And what of Felicity and his love for her?

The two finally seem ready to make a go of it, but Oliver’s nerves over the date cause him to miss the fact that Vertigo and the bad guys have planted a tracker on his Arrow suit. Seeing Felicity covered in blood when the evildoers attack them at the restaurant shakes Oliver to his core.

Ultimately, his reaction to seeing her and his experience after being injected lead him to say things that indicate he doesn’t plan to move forward with a relationship with Felicity. At least not by day.

The ball is now in Felicity’s court, but Ray Palmer is a new introduction to the cast who might steal away her affections by day. He’s wealthy, charismatic, and a great match for her.

Whatever relationship buds between them will likely be the kick in the pants Oliver needs to realize he can be both man and hero. And in the meantime Olicity fans will have a few more reasons to pine.

Sara’s death will further drive a wedge between them as each member of the team grapples with her death in his or her own way. Watching them more forward separately and together will be an important part of the series as the season progresses.
