Would you like a dose of compassion with that lawsuit? According to TMZ, actress Valerie Harper is currently in the midst of a $2 million lawsuit with playwright Matthew Lombardo for failing to tell the producers of Looped that she suffered from brain cancer.
The 74 year old “Mary Tyler Moore Show” actress was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2012. The cancer caused her to slur words and forget lines during rehearsals — and Lombardo is NOT happy about it.
According to Lombardo, the issues regarding Harper’s cancer cost him $500,000. His lawsuit comes after Harper filed one of her own when he failed to pay what he owed in her contract after she pulled out of the remaining shows.
Harper recently told US Weekly, “In response to a recent erroneous quote concerning my health, I am not ‘absolutely cancer-free. I wish I were. Right now what I am is cautiously optimistic about my present condition and I have hope for the future.”
So sad. And Lombardo…you’re a jerk.
