Newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the country have gifted 20-year-old Taylor Swift with yet another honor. She is their pick for 2009 Entertainer of the Year. Swift said, “I am so honored and so excited. This was so unexpected, and I could not be more grateful.”
One reason may well be the fact that she had eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at one time this year. Last year’s winner was Tina Fey, who delighted television viewers with her SNL portrayal of Sarah Palin.
Swift’s album Fearless and her 52-city North American tour launched her to new heights in 2009. The awards piled up with best female video at the VMA’s, five awards at the AMA’s, including artist of the year, and she swept the CMA’s – winning the coveted Entertainer of the Year 2009. She is also nominated for a total of eight Grammy awards, which will be broadcast live January 31, 2010 on CBS.
Taylor was spotted with a boyfriend this year, released some bikini photos and video to share with her fans, and flexed her comedic chops with a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live – see SNL video skits here.
