Peter Fonda, of ‘Easy Rider’ fame, filed a lawsuit against Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana and fashion retailer Nordstrom on Friday after discovering they were selling t-shirts featuring his likeness without permission.

The white t-shirt includes a screen print image of Fonda’s character Wyatt, aka Captain America, on the lower half.

Since the legal ruckus ensued, the $295 shirt is no longer being shown on the Nordstrom website.

According to court documents, Fonda is seeking “compensatory damages in an amount not less than $3,000,000, plus interest, attorney’s fees and punitive damages.”

The iconic 1969 road movie was written by Peter Fonda and the late Dennis Hopper, produced by Fonda and directed by Hopper. Both men starred as freewheeling hippies in the popular flick.

In 1998, ‘Easy Rider’ was added to the United States National Film Registry, having been deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.”
