The show must go on is such a well known phrase in Hollywood but unfortunately sometimes the show can’t go on. Just one day after laying her son to rest, Marie Osmond made her way back to Sin City to continue on with her Vegas shows. The situation has apparently continued to take a toll on Marie because on March 17th it was announced that Donny and Marie would be canceling the remainder of their shows for the week.
Ticket holders received phone calls on St. Patrick’s Day from Harrah’s Entertainment Box Office announcing that the Flamingo show would be dark from March 17 through March 20 and all credit card transactions would be refunded within the next 7 to 10 days. One of our Bitten and Bound writers planned to take in the show on March 18 and received a phone call with the bad news yesterday afternoon.
One can only imagine the pain that the Osmond family is going through, coupled with the added burden of guilt that comes with a family member committing suicide. Marie is only human and deserves time to grieve just like everyone else. Putting on a happy face and performing has to be an extremely difficult facade to maintain right now.
Marie is said to be spending time with her family. Last week Marie Osmond bravely told her Las Vegas audience, “The way Osmonds survive is we keep singing.” Sadly even music couldn’t help Marie through the death of her son.
We wish Marie peace in her time of grieving. One thing is certain, when Donnie and Marie return to the stage, their fans will be waiting.
