Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi spoke to members of the U.S. House of Representatives prior to their vote on the $700 billion bailout package. She called the speech nonpartisan but members of the Republican House delegation blamed the down vote on Pelosi’s inflammatory words.
GOP House Leader John Boehner said: “I do believe we could have gotten there today had it not been for this partisan speech that the Speaker gave on the floor of the House.”
