The remains of Morgan Harrington, a 20-year-old college student who went missing during a Metallica concert In Charlottesville, Virginia on October 17, 2009, have been tentatively identified after being discovered on a remote farm near where she disappeared.
Farmer David Dass notified police after he discovered skeletal remains at 9:30 a.m. in a hay field on his 700-acre farm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. The property is located 10 miles from the concert venue and has no public access point.
He said, “I looked down and saw what looked like a human skull, and my first thought was that it was Morgan Harrington.”
There is reportedly a significant amount of evidence that allowed Virginia State Police to tentatively identify the remains, according to Col. W. Steven Flaherty.
Harrington’s parents were called to identify their daughter’s body and personal effects. Dan Harrington said, “This is a horrible day”.
